The Overhaul

April 28th, 2008

About time this happened. I decided the site needed an overhaul. And hey, I finally have a gallery! I’m still ironing some things out (the Forums for instance, and how I’m going to do the Writings page), but by and large this is what to expect. Any suggestions for making the site better would be welcome by the way.

The New Term

January 3rd, 2008

Well, it’s my final term at Sheridan starting Monday. Whether I go back for anything or not depends on what I plan to do after I graduate. Between thesis work and my regular courseload however, I should be quite busy on the whole. It’s hard to believe I’ve been in my program for three and a half years already. It seems like yesterday that I was a kid just trying to make an inroad with six months of life drawing and a tacky portfolio.

It’s good though. I’m feeling very accomplished and a lot of the work that came out this year is satisfactory in my eyes. Hopefully it keeps going. I want to have at least twenty good pieces in my portfolio by the time I graduate. This website will, in that time, slowly become something more than just a blog. I hope to do some really neat things with it. Of course, first things first, right? Hah.

Onwards 2008, let’s see what the future holds.

A Side of Five

December 8th, 2007

It’s finals week and we’re in the home stretch. Surprisingly, I’m not behind, but dangerously close to it. Still, this year should yield a ton of new work to post. I’ve been feeling much better about my work in general. Having to speed-draw so much stuff for the FanExpo table really helped me gain experience with digital painting and inking. I’ve also gained a new appreciation for nib pens and their use. It’s still a bit messy and I need a sponge ring for my inkpot, but things are going much better.

I’ve finally begun to remodel. After much thought, I felt going to Wordpress for this site would be in my best interest. I’m using a downloaded theme for now, but I’ll customise and trick it out over the Christmas break to something that represents my style.

Webcomics should return as a feature, though I’m not sure if I’ll do a continuing story or just one shots. We’ll see. Either way I’ve become way more acquainted with physical-to-digtial workflows, which takes a lot of the anger out of doing comics, scanning them, etc.

Welcome back folks. Room with the View is open.
